Mail Art

After collecting as a group we started to throw around ideas. We realised that we all enjoyed the 'Postman's choice' idea. Which consists of a blank postcard with two different addresses on either side, leaving it up to the Postman to decide which address the post card will end up at.
Also after looking at other mail art we also liked the pieces where people had tried to stretch the postal system by sending abnormal objects stamped and addressed e.g a pebble. We decided that we would like to test the postal system in some form.

We came up with the idea of sending money through the post in ways that would tempt the Postman. Almost a trust exercise between us and the Postman/Postal System. We then went on to create a series of envelopes/packages that would contain a £5 note (shown in the slideshow below). Some we made small slits in the front of the envelopes so you could clearly see what was inside. Others we simply put in clear envelopes making it pretty blatant. The note pictured above was the extent of our tests as we have simply stamped and addressed a £5 note.We selected the four best and have posted them to each other.

  1. Its a funny idea,
not sure ur tempting plan is work or not, but
on the 1st and the 2nd photo, u use a white paper cut out a part to show the 5£ note , visually is really really good.
or maybe u can print out a 50£ note show a bit on the envelope,
testing some will open it or not.

  4. Thank-you for the fiver in the clear plastic pencil case - safely delivered to me by Royal Mail, who thoughtfully enclosed it in their own paper envelope and readdressed it to me.

PS. Do you want it back?
